Quality Unit

Introduction:

The Quality Unit was established on 10/2/2005, to assure and enhance the quality in all educational, administrative and research aspects in PPU. It reports directly to the president of the university. Before the official establishment of the unit, a special committee have carried out different activities in this field during the last years.

The mission:

The mission of this unit is the continue the effort of controlling and enhancing the quality and establishing a quality culture in the university, also more ever it aims to improve the educational environment through suitable measures and professional criteria of the evaluation of academic programs. It also aims to enhance the academic and administrative performance to achieve the satisfaction of the local, regional, and international communities regarding the outcomes of the educational process in the university.

The Vision:

To be locally and internationally accredited center of quality and to up grade the university to an appreciated state of quality at all levels.

The Aims:

1. Create and spread the quality culture in the university and raise the value of excellence.
2. Provide professional measures and criteria to assure the quality of education.
3. Improve and enhance the teaching, learning, academic, administrative and research processes.
4. Develop a continues process of self evaluation in the university.
5. Assure the ability of the university graduates to satisfy the national and international market needs.
6. Supervise the implementation of local and external review teams recommendations.
7. Improve the educational environment, and enhance the quality of services provided for students and staff.

The Activities:

To achieve these aims, the unit will perform different activities, such as:

1. Determine the general policy of quality in the university and supervise its implementation.
2. Implement the necessary activities to spread the quality culture and enhance the performance, such as, training courses, work shops, conferences, prochures, and web resources.
3. Strengthen the relation and cooperation with all quality-associated bodies locally, regionally and internationally.
4. Plan and supervise the process of self evaluation for academic programs and provide the necessary training for the evaluation teams.
5. Welcome and cooperate with the external review teams and facilitate their mission.
6. Provide the necessary criteria for evaluating and improving all academic-related processes, such as, examinations, curricula, teaching and learning methods and student evaluation.
7. Develop a unified filing and archiving system to facilitate the quality control and evaluation processes.
8. Coordinate with academic departments to assure adapting the quality concepts and criteria in the development of new programs.
9. Report to the university administration the recommendations regarding the development of educational environment and improving the quality of the services in all university facilities.
